Good Time with Good Friends

Once upon a time there were 3 couples who met weekly for bible study, prayer and encouragement. I cannot begin to tell you the depth of friendship formed as we laughed together, wept together, shared meals as well as stories, learned from one another, humbled each other and edified each other.

a most serious discussion taking place. gardening techniques? theology? or maybe... whose turn is it to do the dishes?

Small Groups -- or Life Groups, as they are sometimes called-- can make all the difference in our walk through this world. Especially if you are being struck down by the trials and mishaps. Life was not meant to be lived alone. We all need each other.

a red head, a brunette and a blonde walk into a bar.....      these 2 ladies have given me their hearts unconditionally.

We met every Sunday evening for many many years. We rotated homes and enjoyed many fine meals. We adapted recipes to accommodate the dieters, the vegetarian and the gluten-intolerant. We snuggled under blankets on cold winter nights, we basked in the sunshine during the summer. We worked our way through several chapters of the bible, a few book studies and learned a lot about God and ourselves and each other in the process. We laughed ourselves silly playing games, telling jokes, playing jokes and reliving tall tales. We even survived a snow retreat together!

One of the couples moved recently to Honduras to return to full time missionary work. so we were thrilled to have them home for a visit and be able to orchestrate a reunion. We treasure our times together.

  1. Beautiful post!

My husband and I moved the end of November, please be in prayer that we find a good small group. I know it would be a huge benefit in our lives. :)
