Today I am thankful for life.
While today was blessed in that we held our Alpha Away day-- a retreat like day to spend some extra time together and learn more about the Holy Spirit, it was overshadowed by the news of a tragic accident right here in Deming today; a young high school student was killed in a car accident. She was 17 years old and on her way to a volleyball tournament.
Needless to say our hearts break for the family and friends of this young lady. So today I am especially thankful for life. when the news came in this morning via text messages, and two of our ladies at the retreat, learned the identity of this young girl, and realized they knew her... and that she was a friend of their own children... I am thankful that we could surround and support them with love and prayers.
I am thankful that in times like this, I can turn to my heavenly father, with groaning to great for words and let the Holy Spirit utter my prayers. I am thankful I have a faith that sustains me in times of grief.
Today is also my mom's 82 birthday. We are taking her out to dinner tonight to celebrate. I am thankful I have the privilege to do so.
