vacation count down...

Today I started shopping for vacation. Food stuff. We'll only be gone a few days but I know my family and we love to munch while on vacation. Camping can be a lot of work-- I find sometimes I spend more time preparing food, cooking food and cleaning up food while we are camping then any other time except possibly Thanksgiving. So I have a new policy about our camp outs. As much snacking as possible and only cooking-- really cooking-- one meal a day-- usually dinner-- and Bruce helps.

the picture that motivated me!!

This evening I was looking through old photo albums, (the days before digital!) and found the pictures from the camp out to where we are going next week. OK, I'll spill the beans. It's Banks Lake, which is located near Electric City and Coulee City. We were there Labor Day, 2000. We (Bruce and I) were still tent camping then; everyone else was in a camper or travel trailer.

I was shocked at some of the pictures because I had forgotten how big I was back then. In fact I remembered that right after I had those pictures developed I resolved to loose that awful weight and I joined Weight Watchers and it took me a year but I lost over 40 lbs!

OK, I don't know if I can explain this picture... my mom came camping with us and I don't know what she was doing here except being Mom!  You will note my mother is the panty hose and dress queen. Yes, even camping, those nylons get worn....
