and it's pooping on my head....
or in this case on our vacation and travel plans.
The trailer needs to be pulled by something obviously. And the something is our Toyota van. Which needed some work done on the brakes. Nothing too major-- right? Um. That's not the way it works in the Burke household.
Someone put the decimal point in the wrong place, or added too many zeros or something because we just found out how much it is going to cost to have this little brake job done. And we need it done by Thursday morning so we can leave by noon. (I am not even going to go into the whys and wherefores of the van just now getting to the mechanics. I'm married to a carpenter, not a mechanic)
Some things we just have no control over.
Our options are to bite the bullet and fix the van. Or pull the trailer with Big Yellow (hubby's work truck) and consume millions of dollars in gas. Or take the car and tent camp (ugg) OR stay in a hotel... which sounds really lovely actually... but we'd miss out on the camaraderie of the group camping thing, which changes the whole dynamic of the family camp out together.
After some discussion and hair pulling, more discussion and prayer, we decided to bite the bullet. "Fix the van. Have it ready by Thursday morning." my sweetie says in confidence (only I can see his knees shaking ever so slightly) The mechanic (whom by the way we do trust to be reputable and has some of the best prices in town so we know we are not being ripped off)
Back to the list of things we do have some control over.
